Tim Darling

Land and Planning Manager

One of two Chartered Mineral Surveyors within Forterra’s Land and Mineral Resources Department, Tim manages a geographic region of the company’s landholding assets and environmental permits. He started his professional career in 1997 after graduating from a BSc degree course in Mineral Estates Management at Sheffield Hallam University.

His role primarily involves overseeing land transactions (acquisition of land and minerals, leasehold and disposals), obtaining and managing planning / environmental permits and supporting quarrying operations, all of which has brought him closer to the company’s management teams and company strategy.

Tim says, “The diversity of my role is what is particularly enjoyable; from one day to the next we can be fully suited and booted meeting government officials, then digging around in undergrowth with ecologists assessing a site’s biodiversity. I intend to gain a wider breadth of management experience within Forterra and ultimately aspire to becoming head of department.”
