Neil McLafferty

National Sales Manager

Neil began working with the company as a despatch clerk over the summer while doing his A-Levels, before starting full time in the marketing department at the Kirton Plant on 1st October, 1998.

He was promoted to Plant Manager in 2003, and while in the job he gained a number of further vocational qualifications through work, including the NEBOSH certificate. Neil also spent a number of weeks working and studying brick making operations in mainland Europe.

“My operational role within the business offered me a massively broad range of opportunity for personal development,” remembers Neil, “from land-impact related work, involvement in ecological considerations, planning authority relations, CDM and also local resident interaction - all prior to even making a brick!”

His career had a change of direction in 2007 when he took on the role for Area Sales Manager for Yorkshire, giving him the responsibility of selling facing bricks to national developers, builders merchants and regional builders, and developing an understanding in the dynamics to the building product market.

He now holds the role of National Sales Manager, responsible to selling into the Commercial and Specification sectors of the market. Neil concludes; “I run a dynamic team which offers technical and product knowledge and assistance to Architects, Planners and other specifiers of Forterra’s products, giving me the chance to be involved in some of the most prestigious construction projects in the country.”
