Hello, my name is Michael Davidson and I recently joined Forterra at the start of September to begin my career as an operations graduate after graduating in May 2016 in Engineering Management. After graduating I was keen to find a role that suited my interest in operations and hence my attention was drawn to Forterra’s graduate programme.

After being invited down for an assessment day, the relaxed and friendly environment ensured I had no doubts that joining the company was what I wanted to do. The assessment day was an enjoyable experience with team building exercises, plant tours and time to talk to all members of staff available in order to gauge a true understanding of what the role would involve.

Additionally there was time to showcase my skills and enthusiasm for the position through presentations and interviews which also allowed me to learn about the company and the team behind it. 

As I had to relocate from Scotland there was some anxiety beforehand about moving down and finding accommodation etc. but those fears were quickly extinguished by Forterra, who accommodated my relocation to and from Scotland by providing support and resources to make the move as relaxing as possible.

My first few weeks have involved travelling across the business and numerous sites in order to meet as many departments as possible and gain an understanding of the business model the company uses. The role will no doubt provide the challenge and development I was looking for and will do for many more years.
