Block paving cleaning and maintenance
Paving requires regular maintenance, including occasional cleaning. In normal circumstances, sweeping will be sufficient to prevent the build-up of debris.
Dirt and grime can be cleaned using plenty of hot detergent solution, such as washing up liquid, brushed vigorously with a stiff outdoor brush and rinsed thoroughly with clean water.
A light power hose can also be used on medium pressure but it is not advised to use high pressure washers, which can damage the surface of the product.
Large weeds should be removed by hand and the area treated with a weed killer, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
When removing thick growths of moss or lichen, scrapping out of the joints must be carried out, followed by treatment using a moss killer.
Block paving can be sealed with a resin-based sealer to combat stains and weed growth and enhance the colour and appearance of the paving. Always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
