LockClad technical details
Composition
Natural clay – either Etruria Marl or Fireclay. Firing temperatures in excess of 1045ºC are employed to produce high levels of vitrification, frost resistance and durability.
Strength
Tiles have flexural strength >2kN and will withstand windloads likely to be encountered in the UK.
Durability
Frost resistant when tested over 100 freeze/thaw cycles. Unaffected by ultra violet light and atmospheric pollution. Tiles carry a 30-year durability and colour guarantee (details available on request).
Water absorption
Less than five per cent by mass.
Soluble salts
Minimal. The liability to efflorescence is nil.
Fire
Class O (BS 476 and Approved Document of Building Regulations for Fire Safety).
Maintenance
LockClad façades are self-cleansing and require little additional maintenance.
Installation
Installation is undertaken by fully trained contractors.
Supply
LockClad and all components are
UK sourced.
