Forterra has launched a new construction hub project, aimed at supporting colleges with construction courses and help train some of the best future bricklayers in the country.
The company is offering up to six colleges the chance to become Construction Hubs, and will donate 12,000 London Bricks, worth £8,000, to each successful college, plus new merchandise for their workshops and a chance for their most outstanding bricklaying student to win £500 worth of tools.
Successful colleges will also receive the latest brickwork expertise through visits and talks from leading industry figures, including TV’s Craig Phillips, successful builder and winner of the original Big Brother.
Stephen Harrison, Chief Executive, said; “We’re very proud to be offering our support to construction colleges by giving them the chance to become London Brick Construction Hubs in 2019.”
Colleges that apply will be asked to outline ideas for how they would use the bricks to support students’ skills development. A panel of experts will judge the best ideas. Details of how colleges can apply can be found at www.londonbrick.co.uk.
Stephen Harrison concluded, “We hope our products help the students at these colleges learn the vital skills they need to become the next generation of homebuilders.”
